Our Story
From Athlete to Therapist

Kali-Rae Performance Therapy is led by our founder Kali-Rae Wong. With an impressive Artistic Swimming career under her belt, including representing Team Canada and placing 7th at the World Championships, Kali knows what it takes to reach peak performance. Her time as an athlete has given Kali a unique perspective and deep knowledge of the intricacies of working with the body to achieve success, especially after injury. 

Kali's own experience with injuries has led her to specialize in Athletic Therapy. She is empathetic, understanding and appreciative of the physical and mental demands of sport and the limitations an injury can cause. 

Kali is now dedicated to giving her clients the attention, personalized care and support they need to overcome their injuries and achieve their performance-related goals.​​

As an athletic therapist and artistic swimming coach she has been absolutely incredible for my daughter. She has coached my daughter as well as helped her with her flexibility and various injuries. For a few years now I've been dealing with rib pain and general weakness in my upper torso - all over front, back and sides. It got to the point where I would feel a pain build in my front ribs if I sat in a chair for too long; no amount of posture shifting helped. My thoracic spine, rhomboids and shoulder blades also had this almost eternal soreness to them. While different massage therapists and home stretching/rolling helped, it was never enough. The pain and soreness in my torso honestly felt so deep - as if I needed a surgeon to open me up and massage my insides from there.

I felt so lost and confused as to what was happening to me, none of my internet searches yielded similar stories to mine. The closest my research gave me was something called "costochondritis", which is chest pain due to inflammation of the rib joints in the back. The exercises to help with costochondritis were to open up the thoracic spine, and while that helped, it was still not enough. After more research, I came across a physical therapist in New Zealand who is an expert in costochondritis and advised to seek out a Sports Therapist to help pinpoint the dysfunction in my ribs.
 
I worked with Kali and I felt my story was actually listened to, and she was genuinely interested in hearing my entire situation. She is very thorough - always wanting to hear my concerns and taking them seriously. Kali was able to find different areas of weakness/tightness in my torso and gave me specific stretches and foam rolling techniques for my situation, as well as a theory as to why this happened to me in the first place. It's been around 2 months and I can feel I'm on the tail end of recovery! I currently feel so much better and have made massive improvements! Thank you Kali!

I actually cancelled my very first appointment with Kali as I was quite skeptical that she would even understand what I was going through or be able to help me. Kali followed up with me via voice message a week later just to see if I was doing better on my own. I'm quite sure I would still be in this dreadful position if Kali did not do that for me. Thank you, Kali.

All I can say is that I'm very glad I ended up coming here to see Kali. I highly recommend giving her a shot if you are in a situation similar to mine where you are stretching and foam rolling to very little results. These pros will be able to formulate a plan specific to your case.
